1. 3D Crackanoid

the classic arcade game. The object remains the same after all these years.

animation. The game features a nice assortment of levels in this demo, which

11. Jumping Ball
Jumping Ball is a classic breakout clone that mixes in plenty of action.
You'll battle all kinds of evil forces as you break the bricks to clear
increasingly difficult levels. The game is primarily played with your mouse,
though you can optionally use the keyboard. A great gameplay feature is that
your paddle isn't stuck on the bottom the screen; you can move it in any
direction to catch and bounce rebounding balls. Meanwhile, you must prevent
the ball from falling into the fire and water below. However, the more
difficult task is protecting your paddle- not the ball. The 10 levels in this
shareware version introduce you to two of the many dangers in the full game.
You must contend with falling lava and a pair of monsters that shower fire
from above. At the beginning of the game, your paddle is given a certain
amount of power and can get destroyed if it gets torched enough times. The
levels feature different kinds of blocks, some can be instantly cleared while
others require a couple of hits. Other blocks can drop coins, which is
important because you receive a precious life after every 100 you snag.
Jumping Ball doesn't offer many bonuses, though there are opportunities to
enhance paddle power. You can also capture a gun to shoot blocks. The full
version contains 81 levels that are divided into four episodes. The game
requires DirectX 6 or later.

3. Max 2: Counterattack
Max 2 is an extended 2D platform game. To play this game you need a lot of
dexterity and a small dose of logical thinking ability. Goal is really easy -
just kill all the enemies and get to next level :). But of course there's more
handicaps than only enemies: you can find moving platforms, electric platforms
(which can kill Max on contact) and many more. One of the most important
things in this game is collecting money (which usually look like a pack of
banknotes). You need to collect lots of money to get bonuses, secret levels
access, and to complete game :). Hey, I didn't tell anything about graphic &
music yet. In my personal opinion graphic is great, but I don't need to tell
you everything, you should just watch screens in full scale and you will see
it on your own. All movable objects are 256 colours sprites with smooth
animation (movable objects are: player, enemies etc.). Other elements of this
game are made from the hi-res generated textures. Backgrounds, platforms and
other not first-perspective graphic are full color (17 milions of colours)
great images. Music has very high quality and it's a great supplement for the
game, even if it's only in form of midi files. Almost everything in this game
has it own sound: ricochetes, enemies' hit, explosions etc. Game has a big
playability so you won't be disappointed.

4. Salameanderer
Salameanderer is a fun freeware platform game developed in the spirit of
PitFall. As an adventurous salamander, you must run through a dense and
dangerous jungle to collect your booty of gold. Proceed with caution, because
you'll find that this jungle is fraught with peril. Snakes, rocks, fire and
other ravenous salamanders wait for you at every turn. A gun and a sparse
number of bullets is your only protection. The salamander can jump quite well,
but you'll find that timing is key. Screen sizes are small, so you'll have to
plan each move and leap with precise execution. There are also above- and
below-ground levels within screen. You can jump in and out of caverns to grab
the riches. There really is no objective in Salameanderer. However, you're
awarded 10 points for each screen you advance through, and that's no easy
feat. Of course, you'll also earn points for money sacks and gold bars. At the
end of each game, the program records your points and places it on a high
scorers table. The best feature is that the game offers a map editor. This
allows you to create your own screens for various difficulty levels.
Salameanderer also provides five different maps that range from very easy to
very hard. Salameanderer is a cool time-killer that can be as ravenous as you
want it to be. This game receives three smileys.

1. Balls of Steel
"Balls of Steel" is a thinly veiled reference to a pinball machine in the
legendary Duke Nukem action game. Now, you can play an irreverent style of
pinball that offers enough blood and gore to please any true Nukem fanatic.
This shareware download features one of five tables that are in the registered
version. In "Darkside" you're the leader of an elite team of troops who must
take back a research station from a band of monstrous aliens. From the Command
Post to the Cargo Hold, you'll enjoy fantastic three-dimensional pinball
mayhem. Balls of Steel isn't the perfect pinball game, but it features
excellent animation that nicely blends into gameplay. In addition, the table
is complemented by timely dialog from Darkside characters. This feature,
unlike other pinball games, keeps you involved in the story line. The game
also excels with exceptional physics. The ball moves as quickly and stubbornly
as it does in a real machine. Before going far, you must learn how the ball
reacts to obstacles and creatures. Balls Of Steel is hampered by two
frustrating screens. You can choose between a "scrolling" screen or a smaller
static screen (grab the binoculars). The former provides a great view of the
pinball in motion, but it's of little use when you cannot judge its distance
from the paddles.

Robocrush is a fun little freeware game for puzzle lovers of any age. As
RoboCrush 5000, a futuristic jackhammer, you must blast Bleeps with your
trusty mallet. Bleeps are little robots that are adorable yet plentiful.
You'll find yourself overwhelmed by the little guys. The object is to
continually match three color-coded Bleeps before time runs out. Due to the
abundance of Bleeps, you'll have to think two or three moves ahead. This is
because you'll compete with a laser that moves up each time a Bleep is
launched. If the laser overlaps a Bleep, the game is over and RoboCrush 5000
will be bound for the scrap heap. RoboCrush is very easy to play. Using your
mouse, slide RoboCrush 5000 in the right position. Blast the Bleep by
left-clicking your mouse. There are six different flavors of Bleeps. The red,
green, purple, yellow and blue Bleeps operate under the Three-Bleep rule.
However, gray Bleeps don't match when they're put together. Obviously, this
causes problems when you have an abundance of unmatched Bleeps. Fortunately,
the gray Bleeps eventually change color, allowing you to match and clear them
off the board. With every match you make, you earn 100 points. Everytime you
reach a combined score of 3000, you'll enter a new level. As you advance
through the game, the laser will move up faster and faster. Luckily, the game
lets you restart with your current level and score intact. Once you've
finished the 10th level, you can consider yourself a RoboCrush master!

4. Gubble Buggy Racer
Gubble Buggy Racer is an entertaining arcade racing game, similar to Mario
Kart. It takes you to the surreal land of the purple space aliens, where our
hero Gubble D. Dleep resides. These weird yet cuddly creatures like to play,
though they also seem to enjoy swearing at each other. Dialog is in
incomprehensible Gubble-talk, however, and the game actually provides real
family fun. One or two people can race, and you'll choose from several
colorful buggy racers. Your buggy is controlled with just a few keys, so the
game is easy to play. The courses are unforgiving, so it may take a little
time for you to grasp the physics of gameplay. This demo version offers the
Single Race mode and two nicely designed courses. These include the easy
Gubble World course and the more difficult Sandy Straights. Both feature
shortcuts and traps to make things interesting. To gain an edge, you can
capture gold coins, weapons and various other power-ups. Throughout the race,
the screen displays an odometer, elapsed time and your current position.
There's also a course map, which indicates the positions of your competitors.
Gubble Buggy Racer has a lot of character, and provides a nice diversion for
everyone. Unfortunately, there's no documentation included whatsoever. The
game requires DirectX drivers, which you can download from our Support File

5. Jetboat Superchamps 2
Jetboat Superchamps 2 is a fast-paced boat racing simulator, and is truly one
of a kind. You'll have the opportunity to pilot a Manga-style jetboat, and
compete in either an arcade race or time trial. The game pays remarkably close
attention to the general physics of the sport. Of course, the greatest factor
is water, which is truly what sets this game apart from most racing sims. This
fantastic new version features better and more realistic graphics. You'll
match up against Superchamps with improved artificial intelligence, and race
on brand new tracks across three beautifully rendered environments.
Controlling your racer is a little different, because you have to adequately
navigate through rolling waves. You also won't be able to stop on a dime, and
you'll need to master the art of making tight turns. Depending on your style,
the water can either propel you to victory or stop you dead in your tracks. In
this demo, you may choose between two pilots and their boats: the powerful
Takeshi or the agile Kaori. In both the arcade race and time trial, you must
always remain on course and pass through a series of gates. If you wander
off-course or miss three gates, you're branded a "loser" and the game is over.
In the race, you'll compete against six speedboats. In the time trial, you
must finish the course before the specified time limit. Jetboat Superchamps
offers an addicting challenge each time the game is loaded. You should note
that this game requires a 3D Video Card and DirectX 6.1 or later. This demo
version imposes a 90-second limit per race.

in the game. Even if you aren't interested in the series, you'll love the
game's attention to racing detail. Using your keyboard or joystick, you'll
pilot a very fast and extremely agile car. Enjoy the thrill of victory as you
pull a corner at 150 miles per hour. You'll also suffer the agony of defeat
when you crash into the wall at 120 miles per hour. In addition to navigating
the track, you'll also have to tear through grass and sand as well as swerve
around slick areas on the asphalt. If you crash too many times, you may lose a
tire or seriously bang up your car. When this happens you must make a pit stop
and hope your crew is quick about it. The game provides several camera angles
to give you a full feel for the race. It also keeps track of positioning, so
you'll know exactly where you stand as you approach the final lap. You'll even
be able to communicate with the crew. This demo offers all the action, but
you're limited to a competitive and tight five-lap race at a Japanese track.
The game requires DirectX 6.1, which you can download from our support file
page. Official Formula 1 receives five smileys.

8. Sno-Cross Championship Racing
This excellent game introduces you to competitive world of snowmobile racing.
No, these vehicles are not just for winter fun and frolic. You'll hop aboard a
souped-up Yamaha sled and race your opponents to the finish line. Your
"starter" sled is a 500cc model that takes you upwards of 130km/h. This demo
version includes a great track that winds through a Scandinavian village. The
track features hairpin curves, short straitaways and a number of kick-butt
jumps. Sno-Cross Championship Racing plays like an arcade game, but it's
actually a rather nice simulation. An impressive physics system provides a
racing environment somewhat similar to the real thing. For example, you can't
jump on the throttle and expect to make every curve. Instead, you end up
launching yourself into someone's house. After a few rounds, you'll learn how
to ease off the throttle and anticipate turns before they happen. You must
also try to stay on the track, mostly because the heavier snow surfaces can
slow your sled down. Like any racing game, Sno-Cross Championship Racing
measures your lap time and race position. It also indicates trailing
competitors. After the race, you can enjoy a full replay of the action. Sno-Cross
includes full display and control configuration options. You can choose from
several 3D screen resolutions and completely re-map joystick and keyboard
commands.

10. Test Drive: Off Road 3
This is a basic, bare-bones demo version of Test Drive: Off Road 3. It's a hot
new racing simulator with all of the grinding action of competitive off-road
racing. You'll climb into the seat of an AMC Hummer, a muscle SUV that's
capable of stomping over the steepest hills. You'll race against other
off-road rigs, including the Ford Explorer, Jeep Wrangler and more. The
setting is an intimidating canyon track with rugged terrain and unbelievable
jumps. As far as off-road simulators go, the proof is always in the pudding.
This newest release of Off-Road features an improved physics engine for
realistic off-road racing. Because each truck is unique, you'll have to learn
its special navigational requirements. For example, the Hummer is impressively
stable on the canyon track, but it's terribly heavy and offers no agility. The
game challenges you to finish each jump as well as correct the Hummer's
inevitable fish-tailing. You can feel the tires attempt to grip the various
kinds of surfaces across the track. Throughout the race, check out all of the
seven different camera angles. The cameras can zoom and pan at any direction,
giving you a 360-degree view of the race. The game requires DirectX 6.0 or
later, which can be downloaded from our Support File page. Test Drive: Off
Road 3 receives five smileys.

1. 3D Blitz
Though all games are unique in their own way, 3D Blitz can be best described
as a simpler adaptation of BeachHead. 3D Blitz gives you a 1st person
perspective from inside a bunker, where you control a heavy, rotating gun.
Your objective is to protect the entrenched beachhead from all incoming
enemies. You'll use an on-screen radar to detect threats from all directions.
As you swivel your gun to the appropriate position, fire your gun and watch
your enemies plummet helplessly toward the bunker! 3D Blitz is a World War II
game with classic German sea- and aircraft. However, the game doesn't bore you
with the details; it's your basic shoot 'em up, albeit with great 3D graphics
and 360-degree action. 3D Blitz allows you to control your guns with a
joystick, mouse or keyboard. Gameplay is simple enough, though you're only
given a certain amount of resources to do your job. For example, your enemies
tend to fire back and immediately destroy the bunker. You're also limited by
ammunition, though you can expand your firepower by knocking down the
occasional bonus blimp. An important feature is that the controls are
completely configurable. 3D Blitz challenges your reflexes, especially as you
play the more advanced levels in the game.

2. 3D Mars Mission
3D Mars Mission is an outstanding space shooter, and probably one of the best
in its class. Though it maintains the spirit of the old arcade classics, the
program ditches the tired top-down perspective that many of its clones still
use. Rather, 3D Mars Mission offers updated 3D graphics, featuring aliens that
charge at different angles and higher rates of speed. You'll blast hordes of
marauding Martians from a unique animated fighter. The spacecraft is well
armed and agile, though it can only go left or right. 3D Mars Mission features
standard keyboard controls, but the game's intense action will have you
clamoring for its mouse and joystick support. You'll find plenty of twists to
the old genre, such as a mothership that occasionally appears for you to dock.
The ship smashes aliens as your fighter is replenished with new shields and
weapons. You can catch various power-ups that enhance your shooters, though
you'll love utilizing bombs that simply obliterate everything in sight.
Another cool item is the space track that guides you to the next alien wave.
Keep in mind that many Martians are kamikazes, so use your shields sparingly.
This is a must-have for space shooter fanatics. Its mix of excellent graphics
and blazingly fast gameplay is hard to beat. This shareware version includes
the first few levels. Note that this software requires DirectX drivers.

spacecraft come at you from every direction. It offers classic arcade-style
gameplay, with great color graphics and sound effects. You're the Earth's last
remaining hope as an alien armada threatens to destroy the galaxy. Where
diplomacy has failed, you must combat the enemy forces and survive in a
naturally volatile universe. You'll pilot an agile but sturdy spacecraft, and
blast any object that comes near you. As the program states: "Take no
prisoners, destroy everything." This demo version includes Episode I, smartly
titled "Into The Storm." You're given a trial by fire, because swarms of
asteroids attack from the very first wave. AstroFire can be easily played with
your joystick, or with just a few keys on your keyboard. Your craft can fly in
any direction, and turn at 360-degree angles. Your default weapon will not be
enough to win, so you must collect a series of power-ups to survive. After
you've blasted certain objects, you can swoop in to collect bonuses that
provide extra lives, shields and firepower. AstroFire is pure fun, from
beginning to end. It offers the ultimate test of your reflexes, especially as
you reach the higher waves. This shareware version offers all of the fun, but

8. Bad Folkers
In this game, you'll have to shoot down a variety of really nasty "folkers."
Bad Folkers is an entertaining air combat game that's both intense and
humorous. You're a pilot who's testing a prototypical fighter jet capable of
breaking the lightspeed barrier. A design mishap causes your plane to travel
back in time to the World War II era, specifically 1945. Through a chain of
events, the Germans are persevering at protecting their borders. It seems that
only your high-tech aircraft can stop them. The title "Bad Folkers" is a take
on the famous combat plane. It is, as you'll find, also a play on a certain
objectionable word. Bad Folkers features tried and true arcade-style gameplay.
You'll control your fighter as waves of German airplanes attack you. Using
your keyboard or joystick, you must shoot these planes down while avoiding
mid-air collisions. The fighter plane can utilize three different weapons and
five different "superweapons." You'll be able to pick up all kinds of
power-ups to boost your performance. After getting past all of the little
folkers, you must defeat a Big Boss to move on to the next level. Bad Folkers
features funny dialog, including foul-mouth reactions and witty one-liners.

Blue Thunder is an aerial shoot-em up that has you traveling through the solar
system. The game offers team-based action. You'll join other team members to
reach an ultimate objective- to stop an evil corporation. As you'll find, the
Blue Thunder is effortless to fly, thus allowing you to pay more attention to
combat. The aircraft uses a single "Power Cell" to provide power to your
shield and Weapon Generation System. You can configure the Power Cell to add
more juice to one component or another. You'll assume the rank of "beginner,"
and try to work your way up once you've gained more experience. Gameplay is
interesting, though it should be familiar to anyone who has played air combat
games. You can lock onto an enemy or friendly aircraft, and easily detect if
your teammates are in trouble. Because it indicates the player's name and
rank, you'll be able to hunt the weakest fighters, or the strongest if you're
feeling ambitious. The aircraft is also equipped with a messaging system for
coordinating a team attack. You receive more money for downing stronger
fighters, which you may use to upgrade your aircraft. Blue Thunder features
configurable keyboard and mouse controls. Blue Thunder requires DirectX 7 or
later and a Direct3D-compatible graphics card. You may have to adjust the game

12. Chicken Shoot
In Chicken Shoot, your lone objective is to permanently ground fleets of
flying chickens. This irreverent, entertaining download arms you to the tooth
with a pistol, rifle and time bombs to do the job. This is a classic "point
and click" shoot 'em up, where you place your sighting on a target and click
the mouse to fire. You'll have just a few minutes to blast these birds, which
quickly scatter across the screen to avoid you. This trial version features a
scenic alpine setting, where the animated birds fly, ski-jump and parachute.
Lower your aim to take out a snowman, or fire off a few rounds to see who's in
the outhouse. Chicken Shoot is a hunting game, and thus your real goal is to
score as many points possible before time runs out. Points are based on the
proximity of the target you shoot. Naturally, you'll earn more points by
downing chickens that fly in the distance. Plus, as Colonel Sanders might say,
all chickens are not alike. You'll want to aim for targets that carry weapons,
which are quickly added to your arsenal as you shoot them down. Whenever your
ammo runs out, simply right-click to reload. Chicken Shoot impressively
supports 12 languages, and you may optionally toggle off the sound. The full
version includes several additional levels, with an Internet multi-player
feature for up to four people.

fleet. It's your job to save the fleet by destroying enemy cruisers and
knocking off the boss of each level. Game play is jam-packed with intensity
and firepower as fighters swirl around the screen in the heat of battle. There
are many power-up opportunities to add muscle to your arsenal, repair your
ship and thus, keep you going.A cool feature with DemonStar is that there are
many ways to play with others. With the appropriate gamepad you can have two
players fighting on the same screen at once. Further, you can team up with
players over a local area network or take the battle to Cyberspace over the
Internet. The game will work with just about any Internet gaming service that
supports DirectPlay Lobby. This allows you to participate at such places as
IGames and MSN Internet Gaming Zone. This new version even allows you to join
others via ICQ.Anyway you slice it, DemonStar is a great game. It doesn't have
the variable views and 3D graphics that a game such as Galactic Patrol has.
For its size, however, the game was very well developed. DemonStar receives
five smileys.

15. Grids of Fury
Grids of Fury is a space shooter with some very interesting and original
features. For example, while the game uses the familiar "top-down"
perspective, the action occurs in 3D. As you battle your enemies, the camera
rotates at extremely odd (but cool) angles. Grids of Fury follows a confusing
plot where you're sold as a modern gladiator. The story seems mostly
irrelevant, though gameplay is fairly entertaining. Grids of Fury covers 10
deadly arenas. This bloodsport takes place in the "Grids of Fury," where your
main objective is to simply survive the onslaught of violence. This brings up
the game's other interesting feature. Levels consist of labyrinths that you
must carefully navigate. The game becomes a sort of cosmic pac-man where you
simultaneously hunt and dodge the bad guys. Meanwhile, it requires you to
collect a certain number of Power Cubes in order to advance. You'll use your
ship's limited blasters and nukes to destroy the other participants. The game
requires you to repeatedly collect extra cubes replenish your weapons and
restore your shield. You may also upgrade your weapons to unleash maximum
punishment. Grids of Fury penalizes a death by reducing your blaster's
firepower by one level. However, you can receive an extra life each time you
destroy a specified number of enemies. Note:DirectX 7.x is required.

22. Space Tripper
Some outstanding space shooters have been released over the past year, yet
there are few that could possibly match what this one brings to the table.
Space Tripper adds a few twists to this old arcade staple, and is so
challenging that it'll take you light years to succeed. The game presents the
classic top-down perspective, but gameplay is uniquely multi-dimensional. The
ship can go in all directions, but the coolest feature is that it can actually
flip backward to combat aliens that are sneaking up from behind. With enemies
appearing everywhere, Space Tripper offers an immersive environment that keeps
you fully involved in the action. The game features numerous levels of various
design, each presenting an arena where all of the action takes place. Your
spacecraft has two weapons, Laser and Spread, which can be switched by
toggling a key. You'll encounter aliens of different types; all are dangerous
to the touch but all can be destroyed. The arena becomes increasingly more
hostile as you kill more aliens, requiring you to be comfortable with your
craft's flip function. Also, the screen also provides radar that indicates
aliens that pop-up out of nowhere. Occasionally, an alien will drop a power-up
that enhances you craft. Each world climaxes with a mighty boss, giving you a
chance to earn your stripes early. This game is a must-download for any
trigger-happy enthusiast. The demo provides access to three of 14 levels. Note

24. Speedballer
Speedballer is an action-packed, though non-violent, point-and-click shoot-'em-up.
There are basically two objectives in this first-person game. Primarily, you
must stay alive by taking out as many paintball opponents as possible. This is
a difficult task because you're always stuck in one place. You'll encounter
dozens of enemies, each quickly popping up from their cover to take shots at
you. The second objective is to protect your team's flag. Occasionally a
paintballer attempts to grab it. If he manages to do so, you'll lose points
and watch your reputation get tattered. Playing the game is quite simple, and
involves only your mouse. As enemies pop out of their cover, aim the sighting
of your paintball gun over him. Then, just click the left mouse button to
knock him off. Throughout the game, you'll have to watch your limited,
20-round paint hopper. Though a round refreshes every four seconds, ammo can
be depleted during a siege. You can reload by pressing right mouse button, but
you only get one full refill. To make matters worse, you cannot fire during a
refill- making you a sitting duck, At the end of the game, the program tallies
your points and assigns a rank. Once you advanced past being a "newbie" or
"reserve," you're on your way to paintball supremacy.

1. Atari Pong 3D
Pong, in all of its simplicity, started the video game revolution. I remember
spending hours in front of my Atari set, knocking the square-shaped ball
across the screen. Back then, I thought it was a technological wonder. Now, in
1999, Atari Pong is back with a vengeance. Rendered in full 3D, the old
concept has been given a dramatic facelift. The most striking feature in this
update is the variety of play. The black background and stale game play have
been tossed in favor of dynamic and unique action-packed levels. This demo
version of Pong offers two levels: Penguin Pong and Soccer Stars. You're given
the familiar, rectangular paddles to compete one-one with two or three other
human opponents. The computer can also play a mean Pong, as well. In Penguin
Pong, you play on a sheet of ice while a pair of penguins playfully march in
front of you. If a penguin touches the snowball, it multiplies into more
snowballs, thus increasing the challenge. Soccer Stars, on the other hand, is
more like foosball. In addition to controlling the paddle in front of your
net, you'll also control another paddle to play offense. When Soccer Stars is
played with three people, the game features a fantastic shoot-out mode. Pong
is as addicting as it has always been. This ultimate test of poise and
reflexes won't disappoint. Besides being restricted to two levels, this demo
is also time-limited. The commercial version offers 18 more levels and the
ability to play over the Internet. A 3D Accelerator card isn't required, but
recommended. You'll need DirectX 6.1, which you can download from our support
file page. Atari Pong 3D receives five smileys.

3. Deluxe Ski Jump
Deluxe Ski Jump (DSJ) redefines the definition of cool. This unique DOS-based
game presents competitive ski jumping. Whether you practice or participate in
the World Cup, you'll take off from some of the toughest hills on Earth. The
game features a nice 3D environment with authentic real-time physics. DSJ pays
exceptionally close attention to the sport because it closely follows all its
rules and dynamics. While launching and landing is difficult enough, you'll
have to impress the judges to win. Balance and stability are key to attain the
highest scores. DSJ is by no means a simple game. There are various factors to
consider before you even start a jump. First, players will have to study the
hill and its critical point. For example, in this demo you'll be attempting to
make 105- and 170-meter jumps off each respective hill. There's also the wind,
which you can track using a meter. DSJ is played with a standard mouse, which
takes some getting used to. Clicks initiate your take-off, and you'll gently
move the mouse to balance your body. You'll then have to click again, at just
the right time, for a great landing. This demo version features two hills, as
well as practice and World Cup competitions against another player. Match up
against a human or skilled CPU opponent. Deluxe Ski Jump receives five smileys.

surprises. As the story goes, it's Christmas Eve, and Santa is getting ready
for his sleigh ride. Then suddenly, his unionized elves go on strike, and thus
threaten to ruin Christmas for all. The news really peeves Old Saint Nick, so
he decides to do deliver some payback. Armed with his trusty 16-pound bowling
ball, he sets out to show the elves what a "strike" really is. The elves are
gathered and racked for an entertaining bowling session. As Santa, you'll want
to achieve the highest score possible by knocking as many pins, or elves, as
possible. The elves do everything possible to throw you off your game, but
don't be phased. Ignore the taunts, and aim your bowling bowl. Hit your space
bar to toss the ball, and see how many elves fall. The basic rules of bowling
apply, and the game even keeps track of the score. You'll also want to watch
out for curious deer as well as delightful Kalvin Kroaker. Elf Bowling is a
well-developed game, with great graphics and sound effects. It will truly warm
the heart this holiday season. Elf Bowling receives five smileys.

5. FreeRide
Have you ever imagined snowboarding the endless mountain? If so, FreeRide is a
dream come true. You are the Mad Surfer, an apparent survivor of the
apocalypse. A devastating nuclear war has produced a cold, eternal winter
throughout the planet. As a snowboarding nomad, you travel through entire
snow-covered continents in search of thrilling terrain. FreeRide is a simple
and relatively small game, but offers first-rate graphics and sound effects.
You'll enjoy every sharp turn and jump as you slide through unbelievable
powder. The developer utilizes DirectX technology that places you in a
realistic mountain environment. The Mad Surfer can board forever and never see
the same terrain twice. This is due to the game's real time "infinite"
generated map. The game is very easy to play. Your keyboard arrows and space
bar control the Mad Surfer. Evidently, the holocaust has eliminated the law of
gravity. Mad Surfer can surf up steep grades effortlessly, which definitely
adds to the game's entertainment value. Currently, there is no object or plot
in FreeRide. However, it doesn't seem to matter because the game is so
naturally addicting. The developers may eventually add more competitive
features to FreeRide, including time trials and different kinds of tricks.
This game requires a Direct3D card and DirectX Drivers. You can download the
latter from our Support File page. FreeRide receives five smileys. Note:only
for Windows95 Windows98!

7. Kayak Extreme
This download offers an interesting simulation of the "extreme" sport of river
kayaking. It mixes fun, arcade-style gameplay with the challenging and
thrilling physics of this aquatic diversion. This demo provides a nice
sampling of what's included in the full version, featuring the Free Race mode
on the easy Alpine course. It holds little back, allowing you to experience
the feel of paddling through treacherous rapids. This includes navigating past
kayak-smashing boulders and rocketing over steep river falls. The aim in Kayak
Extreme is to have fun, but the goal is to win races. The full version of the
game includes complete stages where you try to succeed and unlock advanced
kayaks and paddles. In order to advance you must be able to compete in all
three difficulty levels, and you do so by beating the clock in each race.
Every course consists of a set of gates that you must pass through in order to
avoid incurring time penalties. You must pass through Green gates going face
forward, and pass Red Gates on both sides. Once you've crossed the finish
line, the penalties are counted against your time. If you fail to meet the
minimum time, you can't advance. This demo lets you race against a computer
opponent or against your "ghost," or your performance in the past race. It's
hard to scrutinize the realism of this simulation, only actual kayakers can do
this. However, anyone looking for a unique racing game should give it a look.
Note that this software requires DirectX 7 or higher and a 3D Accelerator
Card.

but without the funny helmets and infectious flesh wounds. It's a great sequel
to the very popular original release. It stars the legendary Tony Hawk and a
number of other professionals, and the full version will allow you to build
your own skaters from scratch. Pro Skater 2 now provides more realistic switch
skating and tons of new tricks and grabs to pull. You can try everything from
varial flips to nollies. This demo version offers single session skating at a
skate park in France. You can choose to skate as either Tony Hawk or Kareem
Campbell, pros with different attributes and skills. The objective is to skate
your best in two minutes. Score points by mixing tricks and earn additional
points with clean skate switching. With joystick and keyboard controls, the
game is very easy to play. However, it'll take a seasoned and instinctive
skater to pull some of the more difficult tricks. The graphics are good, but
